Police Overreact? Never!

I suppose the police have a job to do.  I guess if someone calls in suspecting a kidnapping, they have to take it seriously and follow-up.  Of course, the point at which the interrogation goes overboard is a matter of opinion.  I am writing today to share a story with you.

This story icon was written by Scott Henson, a former journalist.  He now blogs about public policy.  This is a true story of something that happened to him while taking his granddaughter for a walk.  You can read it for yourself, but the story boils down to a few main points in my mind.

First of all, we are terrible neighbors these days.  We are suspicious of each other, and we call the cops too much.

On the topic of being suspicious, the police are the worst of all.  It must be tough to deal with nefarious characters all day long, and it probably makes you look at the world differently, but it doesn’t mean that something out of the ordinary is, technically, illegal.  In this case, they should have asked their questions, smiled, and moved on.

Anyway, read the story yourself and see what conclusions you derive.
