Always Give The Benefit of the Doubt

Listen. I’m all about protecting kids. However, I may have different ideas than most about how this is accomplished. And, by the way, part of protecting kids doesn’t mean that you believe everything they say and sacrifice other important concepts along the way — like giving the benefit of the doubt to those accused of crimes. If we fail to realize this, the casualties will continue to mount.

Read this article for an example of some women who have now spent 16 years locked up for being convicted of sex crimes that one witness (victim) is now recanting about.

“I want my aunt and her friends out of prison,” Stephanie, 25, said by phone last week. “Whatever it takes to get them out I’m going to do. I can’t live my life knowing that four women are sleeping in a cage because of me.”
